Sad, Happy Times
It is such an emotional delima when a little one grows up. Ainslee has, for the past week or so, been hanging on less to mommy and growing up. For 4 1/2 years now she has had to have mommy to go to sleep. From birth she has slept in our bed snuggled right up next to mommy. Then came the occasional snuggle with daddy. Then the end to nightly ummies (thank the universe!)and she just needed my arm to lay her head on. Occasionally, once friends started staying over, she wouldn't need to be in the same bed with me. Now for the past 4-5 consecutive nights, she has been with Amelia or Daddy. She actually seems to be with Amelia mostly these days and Amelia has taken to the task with joy. Of her own accord, she accompanies Ainslee to one of her friend's that we don't feel is the greatest influence. Ainslee and Amelia play and cook together. Amelia baths her and does her hair. She often dresses her in the mornings. Ainslee will go to her or Case is she wants food. She does still want me to escort her to the bathroom often. At least I get the poop. Gee-whiz, just what I always wanted! It is such a sad and happy thing to watch a little one growing up and becoming more and more independent of mommy or daddy. Definitely tugs at the heartstrings.
