School planning

Case- what a hassle! And people think homeschooling is hard! I have been up to the high school 5 times now trying to get Case registered. Each time I am told to come back at a later date for something! I was originally told " no, he doesn't need to be tested. You just come talk to a counselor to discuss what classes to sign him up for". Talked to the counselor. Guess what? He has to be tested. So this Tuesday we will go in for MAP testing, whatever that is, and a physical science exam to see if he can get credit for that and not redo it since he did that this past year.
Amelia- I have worked hard on figuring out what will be best for Amelia to do this year. We will concentrate on her spelling, grammar, and writing using Painless Spelling, Easy Grammar Plus, and lots of writing projects. We will also touch on poetry with recitation. We will use Oak Meadow again for history, science, and math with supplementation from A Story of the World Audio CD's for history, The Handbook of Nature Study for science, and various library books. First thing in the mornings, will be time for spiritual practices and the study of religions.
Ainslee- this will be her kindergarten year. I was going to use A Journey through Waldorf Homeschhooling Kindergarten but have instead decided on Seasons of Joy perhaps supplemented with Along the Alphabet Path. Despite being a very reasonable guide for waldorf education, I decided not to spend all the extra money on the other books needed to go along with A Journey through Waldorf Homeschooling. I have found my best resource in planning this kindergarten year to be other waldorf moms blogs; such wonderful ideas! Each week will have a theme- our first week is apples. We will work on rhythm ( which I really think Case going to school will help us greatly in this department), and do painting, stories, outings, modeling, baking, singing, and playing all based on our theme for the week. We will incorporate letters, numbers, and other simple concepts into each when appropriate.
