School Update

Along the Alphabet Path "A" week
It was not so great a start to this school week. Ainslee listened but kept interrupting during the Mrs. Applebee "A" story on Monday and we don't have the Flower Fairies Alphabet book or CD yet. though it is on its way. She did enjoy the painting though, and it actually turned out better than I was anticipating. Certainly not as beautiful as most Waldorf paintings I aspire to, but I was pleased none-the-less.

I got frustrated because of interruptions and for the Tuesday baking, messed up the recipe for the apple muffins, one again because people wanted to talk to me. The perils of being wanted. UGH! I was able to salvage it though thanks to Ainslee. I thought it looked a bit dry so added a bit more buttermilk as one review suggestion stated on the website. Looked better. Then, as I was putting them in the oven, Ainslee said, " what about the eggs?" UGH! and Double UGH! So I scooped them all out and added the eggs. No wonder they looked dry! In the end it was a success and quite a tasty one, plus Ainslee enjoyed it.

We went apple picking at Skytop Orchard:

We also made a salt dough "A":

Amelia
and I got into a tiff about school work the other day, so Daddy had some suggestions based on our conversation about learning styles and is running with them. We will see how they work for her. She has been doing well getting up and getting her school work done. I am very proud of her for that. She is definitely not a morning person (and I TOTALLY understand that!).

We are still working on getting into a good rhythm.

Case
is doing well in everything except Biology. We have spoken with his teacher and counselor and noticed a few trends this week. First, We know Case went to school primarily for the social aspect of it since we have been so isolated these last two years. However, that seems to have gotten in the way of his studies. He was well informed that in choosing to go back to school grades came along withthe packagea nd we expect good ones because we know he is capable. He was told to come to us with any problems or questions and we had heard nothing until it was of a severe case. He was all involved in ROTC and wanted to do drill team and rifle team which practice for several hours after school most everyday. He is still heavily involved in BOy Scouts and Order of the Arrow wich gose along with Scouts. Wanted to take fencign again and has joined Youth in Government at school. We had also been kind enough to allow textign on his cellphone. He had it for 4 days and we noticed there was consistnet texting literally EVERY MINUTE of the day out of school hours! How could he concentrate on anything else! So needless to say that is gone, along with most of the extracurricular activities until his Biology grade greatly improves. Then he MAY be able to get a FEW things back. We will see what happens. On the up side... a really good up side... he has A's in all his other classes except Spanish,in which he has a B.
