My mother's mother, my grandmother, and my children's great grandmother moved on to her heavenly life this past Saturday, November 28Th, 2010. She was a blessing to me. She was a school teacher in Lexington, Mississippi for all the time that I knew her and where every one knew her and had most probably been taught by her. I spent time with her and my paw-paw every summer growing up and those are some of the fondest memories I have of growing up - small southern town where everyone knew her and me, even if I didn't know them. A town where I could go into the drug store and grab candy with the friends Grannie-Nannie provided for me while there and just say "charge it" and it would magically be taken care of. Memories of tea parties she set up with the demitasse cups from the china cabinet. Turtles brought home by my paw-paw and smuggled aboard airplanes back home by Grannie-Nannie. I loved going to visit there as a child and I feel very fortunate that my children were able to do the same. Their memories will be different, but they will have their own special memories of their great-grandmother and they will be just as special. It was her and my mother that came numerous semesters and helped me get through nursing school as a single mom of two toddlers. It was her we would go to to give advise for helping the kids in school. I am so glad to have known her and I am so glad my children were fortunate enough to know her also. She lived a full life 91 years long and we love her very much.
