Weekend fun

I had time off this past weekend and amelia and Ainslee convinced me to head out and have some fun. We went to the standpipe festival in Belton and to the Movies on the Market- free outdoor movies in downtown Easley in the amphitheater of market square. We took our camp chairs and blankets and watched Ice Age 4.
Megan, Amelia's friend who spent the night, came to the festival with us. They prepared for the Gator game that day by beating the appropriate color Italian Ices as you can see in the picture.
Usually, I am so tired all I want to do is laze around, but I am so glad they convinced me to go! It was a fabulous day!

Halloween craft

Spider webs are easy and fun to make with glue and glitter.

Fun with homeschooling

We dyed wool loops for the pot-holder loom with Kool-aid in the sun. So easy! We just put a packet of our chosen color Kool-aid in a pint mason jar with our loops and set it in the sun. The loops soak up all the color and the water becomes clear again. They turned out beautiful!

Our yearly trek to Skytop...

As we do every year, we visited Skytop orchard for fine apple pickin'. Yummy, yummy apples right off the trees! We played in the bamboo forest, fed the sheep and goats. Nana walked the ducks. Amelia worked hard pullin' the wagon (she was nice enough to not hog ALL the work and did let us take turns though). We had a lovely picnic lunch, played in the play area, and came home with some yummy local goodies and a bushel of apples!

Case is an officer

Case has made it through 3 years of NJROTC and this year has become one of the senior officers and proud mamma got the privilege if pinning his rank on him. :D

We are trying to get a rhythm for homeschooling but haven't quite figured it out yet. However, we r working on it and Ainslee is being patient with me.

Time for Competition teams again...

Ainslee us a part of the "majors" for the jazz competition teams at UCDC this year. This year they will have a jazz and a hip-hop number and possibly be involved in the production number which is a large group number that involves lots of different dancers and props and scenes and a story line. They have to audition for that and that happens this Monday. We will see, but in the meantime here are the group pictures from this year:

Ainslee's bed

I gave Ainslee a bed for her 8th birthday in April. Built by me ( with a little assistance). I found the bed on pinterest and the plans on Ana-White.com. Here it is:

We went to the beach!

Finally...
We went to edisto beach. It was a beautiful old family beach. We even got to see loggerhead sea turtles crawl to the sea after hatching!
